Diabetes Prevention

Diabetes Prevention

Diabetes currently affects over 30 million Americans or about 10% of the population. In San Antonio, our percentage is higher at 14%. It is estimated that by 2050, this number could grow to 25% of the adult population.

At HealthTexas we believe diabetes prevention is critical. Risk factors for developing diabetes include a family history of diabetes, obesity, history of gestational diabetes and certain ethnic groups including Hispanic and African American heritage.

At HealthTexas we know that a reduction in weight by decreasing calories and increasing exercise substantially reduces long term risk. Devoting 30 minutes a day and 5 times a week of exercise can make a difference.

At HealthTexas, we can help you integrate these healthy changes permanently into your life for a long and active future
