Late Life Depression

Late Life Depression

Late Life Depression is an under diagnosed, under treated condition that affects millions of elderly Americans.

Unrecognized depression can lead to unnecessary loss of physical, social and cognitive function. Depression is NOT a part of normal aging and shouldn’t be treated as such. As primary care physicians we at HealthTexas understand the importance of screening and questioning our patients about the many signs and symptoms of depression. Especially our elderly patients.

Low energy, fatigue, hopelessness, memory problems and sleep problems can all be a sign of depression. Having a doctor that knows what to look for is paramount. Treating depression late in life has its challenges as well. But having a primary care doctor that is in tune with you and your health can greatly increase success with these treatments.

At HealthTexas we look after the whole you!

Steven Ramos, M.D.
