Sleep Deprivation

Sleep is an important part of staying healthy. Getting adequate sleep at night can help keep your body and mind feeling strong.

Adults in general should get the recommended 7 to 8 hours of sleep a day. Sleep deprivation can negatively affect your body’s hormone balance causing an increase in appetite, poor eating habits, weights gain and high blood sugars.

Sleep deprivation can also weaken your immune system, making it more difficult for your body to fight off common infections.

A good night’s sleep has been shown to improve memory, attention, decision making abilities and creativity. It can also help you be more productive as well as increase your mood and fight off depression.

At HealthTexas we work to promote healthy sleep habits and we will work with you to ensure that you’re getting the right amount of sleep needed to keep you functioning at your best!
