When the unexpected happens, should you call your PCP? Go to Urgent Care or the Emergency Room? Using each service correctly can save you time and money.
Your PCP can help you with such matters as cold and flu symptoms, mild fevers, pink eye and other non-life threatening medical issues.
Most Urgent Care Clinics can help you with such minor injuries as broken bones, sprains and strains, minor burns or cuts.
For such critical issues as serious eye or head injuries, severe abdominal or chest pain, stroke or heart attack symptoms, you should go to an Emergency Room; and when in doubt, you should dial 9-1-1.
If you are not sure what to do, call your PCP, or HealthTexas if you are our patient, we’ll help you make the right decision.
