About
Dr. Sherida Suarez was born in Monterrey, Nuevo León, Mexico, and raised in McAllen, Texas, in the Rio Grande Valley. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas–Pan American, proudly graduating as part of the final class before the institution became The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Dr. Suarez went on to receive her medical degree from McGovern Medical School in Houston, formerly known as UT Houston Medical School. She completed her residency training through the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley–DHR program in McAllen, where she served as Chief Resident during her final year.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Suarez is passionate about providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Her decision to pursue medicine was deeply influenced by her lifelong interest in helping others and a defining personal experience caring for her maternal grandmother during her battle with terminal pancreatic cancer. Throughout her career, Dr. Suarez has lived and worked in several Texas communities, including McAllen, Houston, San Antonio, and Amarillo, allowing her to connect with and serve diverse patient populations.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Suarez enjoys reading, traveling, playing volleyball, and salsa dancing. A self-proclaimed foodie and animal lover, she also takes great joy in caring for her two rescue dogs, Bolt, a Lab-Pit mix, and Lucy, a Black Mouth Cur–German Shepherd mix. Dr. Suarez is happily married and remains dedicated to caring for her patients with the same compassion and commitment she brings to all aspects of her life.
