Dr. Max D. Cruz was born and raised in San Antonio. His interest in primary care medicine began while attending Judson High School as well as shadowing his own personal family medicine doctor around his neighborhood clinic. During this time he learned empathy and a compassionate bedside manner. Upon graduating from UTSA, he enrollment at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. He completed his residency at UT Rio Grande Valley in Harlingen.
His time spent practicing medicine in the RGV also influenced his decision to return home to the Alamo City. Dr. Cruz’s love of a family-first culturally focused Hispanic community brought him full circle to San Antonio.
Dr. Cruz is currently seeing patients at the HealthTexas Las Palmas Clinic, 911 Castroville Road, SATX (78237).
When Dr. Max is not seeing patients at his Westside clinic, he enjoys the outdoors, jogging, hiking, and biking. Dr. Cruz is Bilingual (Spanish) and semi-fluent in German and French. His roommate is Milo, a French bulldog. He enjoys the lifestyle of both adventure and peaceful moments.

Celebrating 30 years in 2024, HealthTexas was established in 1994 by local physicians who recognized the need for primary care doctors to combine their passion, skill and resources to improve the health of the patients within the local community. HealthTexas has grown to include more than 65 healthcare providers in 18 primary care clinics in and around the San Antonio region all working toward that same goal.
