Growing up in the Rio Grande Valley, Dr. Vanessa Sanchez, was raised by parents who enjoyed fulfilling jobs in healthcare performing MRIs and running lab tests to help diagnose patients.
Ultimately, her innate aptitude for medicine manifested itself during residency where leadership skills led her to serve as the Administrative Chief Resident in her final year. She earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine. Then to San Antonio and UT Health where she received comprehensive training in patient care, and is Board Certified Family Medicine.
Being able to have time to really listen (speaks Spanish fluently, por supuesto) to patients is what drove her decision to join HealthTexas. The “weight of bearing the ultimate responsibility of her patients’ health” fuels her passion, she explains. She is eager to embrace this role and to provide the compassionate, attentive care they deserve.
Her move to San Antonio also was predicated on the future. Her engineer husband, Preston, was already living in the Alamo City. She enjoys cooking meals with him, binge-watching new shows and spending quality time with their rescue dogs, Ruby, Olive and Waffle. If it is a holiday, she is likely celebrating a family member’s birthday. At least a handful of them all celebrate birthdays that fall on holidays such as Halloween, Easter, Mothers’ Day, etc.
Dr. Sanchez is seeing patients at the HealthTexas San Pedro Clinic, 530 San Pedro Avenue, SATX (78212)
