Ms. Mayery Barroso was born in Laredo, Texas but considers San Antonio her home. After receiving her first bachelor’s degree in Biology, she moved to San Antonio in 2012 where she decided to embark on her second bachelor’s degree, in nursing. After she graduated nursing school, she worked as a registered nurse for over 5 years.
Ms. Barroso was first introduced to the healthcare field in high school where she knew she wanted to pursue her career as an Advanced Practice Clinician. Working at the bedside allowed Ms. Barroso to see first hand how the Hispanic community is disproportionately affected by preventable diseases. She knew that as a bilingual Family Nurse Practitioner she would be able to educate her patients on the interventions needed to prevent such diseases. She looks forward to empowering her future patients to become advocates of their own health. She hopes to build trust and long lasting relationships with them.
When not treating patients, Ms. Barroso enjoys spending time with her husband, and enjoys finding new trails and parks where she can enjoy nature.
