NATIVE TEXAN ALSO A COLLEGE CHAMPION IN DANCE

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS (AUGUST 2023) — Dr. Lauren Bishop’s journey through science and medicine began in Grapevine, Texas, where as a child she would shadow her dad at his family practice in North Texas.

“My father inspired me to become a physician,” explains Dr. Bishop. “My dad was my role model. My bedside manner I gleamed from him. We have similar personalities.”

Dr. Bishop is building meaningful relationships with patients at the HealthTexas  ALAMO HEIGHTS CLINIC , 1248 Austin Highway, Suite 214, SATX (78209).

As a college student she worked summers as a medical assistant at her dad’s practice, and then as a senior  resident she was able to work alongside her father for additional learning and mentorship in primary care.

Dr. Bishop completed her Bachelor of Science at Baylor University in Waco, and then attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston.

In addition to her medical degree, she completed course work and research eventually earning a certificate in Space Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Dr. Bishop selected HealthTexas because of its  physician-led leadership, patient centric approach, where doctors are driven to provide the best possible care for all patients.

During her tenure at Baylor University, Dr. Bishop was named All-University Sing Finalist (2016) and Baylor Stompfest Champion in dance. She enjoys crafts, hiking nature trails, and spending time with her husband, attorney Paul Bishop, and their “fur babies,” including their cat, Pickles, and two rescue dogs, Ophelia and Winston.
